This short informational post is for newcomers to the Usenet newsgroup, REC.AVIATION.ULTRALIGHT. This newsgroup is for discussions and questions related to ultralight and microlight aircraft. These are simple one-seat and sometimes two-seat aircraft, flown mostly for recreation. There are many types. Here is the wording of the actual charter...... * The rec.aviation.ultralight newsgroup is for discussion of all topics * * relating to the operation, construction and maintainance of ultralight * * and microlight aircraft, powered hang-gliders, powered parachutes, * * etc. Discussion of fixed wing or non-fixed wing ultralight aircraft is * * encouraged as well as light aircraft that are not FAR 103 compliant. * Before you post questions and begin to participate in the discussions here, you should go to the newsgroup called, REC.AVIATION.ANSWERS and look for the "Ultralight FAQ" which is short for Ultralight _Frequently _Asked _Questions. Many of your questions are already answered there. There are also many other helpful documents located in the REC.AVIATION.ANSWERS newsgroup including "Netiquette on Rec.Aviation by Geoff Peck". You should read it too. If you are a newcomer to the Usenet newsgroups you should also look to the newsgroup NEWS.ANNOUNCE.NEWUSERS and read the introductory postings there.
